A larger than average secondary school in the New Forest wish to hire a full time Learning Support Assistant for a January start to work within their school. The successful applicant working as a behaviour mentor will join a supportive staff team and undertake regular training; there is an opportunity for this to become a permanent position. Teaching Personnel Dorset branch work in partnership with this school based in the New Forest to cater for all of their staffing needs.
The school caters for secondary aged children aged 11-18 who struggle to access education due to their learning needs, specifically you will support children with mild Autism, Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs as well as children who may show more challenging behaviour. The role as a Teaching Assistant will include undertaking structured and agreed learning activities/programmes, both on a 1:1 and small group basis, taking into consideration pupil learning styles.
Highlights of this Teaching Assistant opportunity include;
- Full time and Part time on going positions with the opportunity to secure a school contract
- Ad-hoc supply work available to cover absences and staff training
- Immediate work after a smooth registration process
- Pay to reflect your experience, earn up to £300 per week dependant on the days you work
- The opportunity to develop your experience and undertake certified training
- Excellent support within this New Forest based school
To be considered for the Support Worker position you will ideally be/have;
- Prior experience working with children and young people
- Experience supporting or assisting children with behaviour aged 11-18
- The ability to develop good relationships with pupils
- Safeguarding knowledge or training
Support Workers challenge and motivate, promoting and reinforcing self-esteem alongside providing levels of individual pastoral support to pupils. This school are looking to recruit on a full time or part time basis which could become permanent, however if you are interested in this work on an ad-hoc supply basis, we welcome your application for supply work.
