Learning Support Assistant

A Local Authority are searching for a Learning Support Assistant to work on a one to one basis with a pupil with challenging behaviour who is awaiting placement in a specialist Primary provision. You will be supporting the pupil in the weeks leading up to and during their transition.

This role will be held on a full time basis and will commence as soon as possible in the new academic year upon a successful initial meeting with the pupil and school team. 

The position will involve working primarily one to one however you will be expected to assist in the classroom where necessary throughout the school day. The candidate will need to be confident in managing challenging behaviour as well as being enthusiastic and a positive role model for the student and helping them to engage with their work! You will play a large role in the monitoring of students progress and development both in terms of their academic and personal achievements.

Ideally for this role, you will have experience with challenging behaviour and will be confident managing this. We welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds including social and youth work. You will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced special needs teachers as well as specialist teaching assistants.
