Learning Support Assistant – Secondary School | Christchurch, Dorset | September Start

Looking for a fresh start this September? Do you have a passion for supporting young people and helping them overcome challenges in education?

Teaching Personnel is currently working with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Christchurch, Dorset, to recruit a Learning Support Assistant (LSA). This is a full-time role starting in September 2025, ideal for individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of students who require extra guidance and encouragement.


The Role:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you’ll play a vital part in creating a positive and supportive learning environment. Your day may include working with students in the classroom, delivering focused interventions, or helping pupils with special educational needs reach their goals.

Main responsibilities:

  • Supporting teaching and learning across Key Stage 3 and 4

  • Providing one-to-one or small group support for students with additional needs, including autism, ADHD, or SEMH

  • Encouraging student engagement and promoting confidence and independence

  • Helping manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies

  • Collaborating with SENCOs, teachers, and pastoral staff to meet individual learning goals

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with young people (in education, youth work, care, or similar roles)

  • A positive, empathetic, and proactive approach

  • Genuine interest in working with students with SEN or additional learning needs

  • A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply through Teaching Personnel)

  • Availability to work full-time from September 2025
