Learning Support Assistant – Secondary School | Christchurch, Dorset | January Start

Teaching Personnel is currently working with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Christchurch, Dorset, to recruit a Learning Support Assistant (LSA). This is a full-time role starting in January 2025, ideal for individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of students who require extra guidance and encouragement.
The Role:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you’ll play a vital part in creating a positive and supportive learning environment. Your day may include working with students in the classroom, delivering focused interventions, or helping pupils with special educational needs reach their goals.
Main responsibilities:

Supporting teaching and learning across Key Stage 3 and 4

Providing one-to-one or small group support for students with additional needs, including autism, ADHD, or SEMH
-
Encouraging student engagement and promoting confidence and independence

Helping manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies

Collaborating with SENCOs, teachers, and pastoral staff to meet individual learning goals

Ideal Candidate:

Experience working with young people (in education, youth work, care, or similar roles)

A positive, empathetic, and proactive approach

Genuine interest in working with students with SEN or additional learning needs

A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply through Teaching Personnel)

Availability to work full-time from January 2025

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
