Teaching Assistant – Bournemouth

Teaching Personnel are working with a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Bournemouth that is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Teaching Assistants to join their dedicated staff team. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about education and eager to support students in reaching their full potential.

The school has high expectations for both behaviour and achievement and is looking for Teaching Assistants who are motivated, confident, and committed to making a real difference. You will work closely with teachers to support learning in the classroom, as well as providing small group and 1:1 interventions where needed.

This role would suit both experienced Teaching Assistants and those looking to start a career in education, including recent graduates or individuals considering teacher training in the future.

Contract Details:

  • Location: Bournemouth, Dorset

  • Position: Secondary Teaching Assistant

  • Type of Work: Classroom support / small group interventions

  • Start Date: September 2025 (or sooner if available)

  • Duration: Ongoing

  • Contract Type: Temp to Perm

  • Full Time/Part Time: Full time

  • Pay Rate: From £14.66 per hour (dependent on experience)

  • Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a genuine passion for supporting young people in education

  • Be confident in working with secondary-aged students

  • Act as a positive role model with strong communication skills

  • Assist with classroom behaviour management and create a safe, respectful learning environment

  • Provide support to teachers and deliver targeted interventions where required

  • Be flexible, patient, and able to work collaboratively as part of a team

Experience, Training and Qualifications:

  • GCSEs or equivalent qualifications

  • Experience working with young people or in an educational setting (preferred but not essential)

  • SEN experience is advantageous but not essential

  • Up-to-date safeguarding training (or willingness to complete training through Teaching Personnel)

Eligibility:

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK

  • Hold an enhanced child DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one through Teaching Personnel)

  • Provide two professional, child-related references
