Learning Support Assistant – Full-Time Role Starting in May
Location: Poole
Contract Type: Full-time, with potential for long-term placement
Start Date: May 2025
Are you passionate about supporting students and making a meaningful impact in education? Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive secondary school in the Hamworthy area.
We’re seeking a caring and proactive individual to assist students with a variety of needs, including special educational needs (SEN), social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges, and other learning barriers.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide targeted support to students in lessons, small groups, or one-to-one settings.

Support teachers with lesson delivery to ensure all pupils can access the curriculum.

Promote student independence and help build their confidence in learning.
-
Assist in implementing tailored strategies for pupils with SEN.
-
Help manage and de-escalate behaviour appropriately, in line with school policies.

Work collaboratively with school staff to maintain a safe, inclusive, and productive learning environment.
What We’re Looking For:

Experience: Prior experience supporting secondary-aged students, particularly those with SEN or additional needs.

Knowledge: Understanding of SEN and SEMH support strategies.

Qualities: Empathetic, patient, and confident in communication.

Team Player: Cooperative, adaptable, and enthusiastic about helping others succeed.

Professionalism: Strong awareness of safeguarding and a commitment to upholding school values.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
