The role

Teaching Personnel are working on behalf of a client school to recruit a fluent welsh Learning Support Assistant for a full time position in a Primary School in the Ammanford area. The successful candidate would be expected to work 1:1 with a pupil with Additional Learning Needs in Key Stage 2. The pupil has absent seizures (on a daily basis) which can lead to big seizures.

When?

The position is to start once as soon as possible once we find a suitable candidate and you will be expected to work for the remainder of the school year. This is a longer term position, meaning the suitable candidate could be asked to work with the pupil throughout her Primary school life.

The school

The client school is situated on the outskirts of the town of Ammanford. The school has both an English and Welsh language stream, and both languages are used in the school’s day-to-day life. In addition, the school has a special unit for pupils with hearing impairments. The school has just under 200 pupils on roll, which are divided into eight mixed-age classes and including a part-time nursery class. 

Pay

GBP10 per hour inclusive of Holiday Pay and contribution towards National Insurance and Pension.

What the school are looking for? 

Desirable:

Previous experience assissting on a 1:1 basis;

An adaptable and flexible Learning Support Assistant as no day will be the same;

Someone who is looking to stay with the pupil throughout Primary School.  

Essential:

The ability to converse orally and in writing through the medium of welsh is essential for this role.

Someone who is available full time, Monday to Friday between 08:30-3:30.

Someone who is looking to work with the pupil for a minimum 3 years.

 What you will need in order to be eligible for this role: 

A CHILD ONLY DBS on the Update Service - We can help you obtain this if you do not already possess one. 

To be registered with the Education Workforce Council - The Education Workforce Council (EWC) is the independent regulator in Wales for Teachers, Further Education Teachers and learning support staff in both school and FE settings, as well as youth workers and people involved in work-based learning. Registration with the EWC is a legal requirement for anyone who works in a School in Wales. If you live in Wales or intend to work in Wales you will be required to register with the EWC.

Two professional references - A 6 year career history will need to be obtained before obtaining two professional references. Education based references are always preferred over other employment. We can discuss what references will be needed when we speak over the phone. 

Have a legal right to work in the UK - We will need to see evidence of your valid British passport or birth certificate.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
