Head of Humanities
History Specialist

This is a fantastic opportunity for a well-qualified, driven professional who is an outstanding classroom practitioner to progress within a Family of Schools in the Wakefield area. You will be an inspiring leader with the energy and creativity to lead a growing team of teachers. You must possess the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of the students and share their single goal of ‘students first’.
You will be an outstanding teacher with the ability to teach Post 16. You will also have the leadership experience and the ability to challenge individuals within your team whilst supporting them to achieve outstanding results. The department aims to continue its success at GCSE and A Level whilst striving to exceed its targets at all key stages. The Secondary school is committed to delivering the best possible History curriculum and the Head of Department will be supported by Directors of Humanities across the Family of Schools.
The Secondary Academy is an Academy of Excellence and a very high performing school. The Chief Executive and Academy Principal is a National Leader of Education and the Academy is a National Leader of Education Support School.
In their last OFSTED inspection, they were judged outstanding in all areas. As one the country's first Teaching Schools, they offer high quality support and programmes of professional development, which provide many opportunities for colleagues at all levels.
In line with the Government’s announcement, the academy is closed until further notice. However, they are still busily planning ahead for the forthcoming academic year and are excited about welcoming new recruits to come and join us.
