Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Sheffield
Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire
Contract Type: Agency - Full Time / Part Time
Salary: Competitive, based on experience (in line with HLTA pay scale)
Start Date: April 2025
About the Role:
We are looking for a dedicated, experienced, and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our vibrant primary school in Sheffield. As an HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting the teaching and learning process, working closely with class teachers to provide high-quality education for all pupils, especially those with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and support teaching and learning within the classroom under the direction of the class teacher
-
Deliver planned interventions to small groups and individuals, focusing on raising attainment and meeting the needs of diverse learners
-
Take responsibility for planning, preparing, and evaluating learning activities for small groups
-
Support students with special educational needs (SEN) and those who require additional support, ensuring that they can access the curriculum effectively
-
Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to the class teacher
-
Assist in the delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum, including literacy, numeracy, and foundation subjects
-
Supervise and support children during playtimes, lunch breaks, and other school activities
-
Actively contribute to a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment
Essential Criteria:
-
HLTA qualification (or equivalent)
-
Experience working in a primary school setting, with a good understanding of the National Curriculum
-
Strong knowledge and understanding of SEN, including strategies to support children with additional learning needs
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents
-
A proactive, flexible, and hardworking attitude, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
-
A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development
Desirable Criteria:

Experience in delivering interventions to support specific areas of the curriculum
-
A First Aid qualification (or willingness to undertake training)

A commitment to continued professional development and growing your skills in education
