Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Key Stage 1

Are you an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with a passion for supporting young learners in Key Stage 1? We’re looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic professional to join welcoming primary schools in the Southampton area, helping to provide engaging, high-quality learning experiences for pupils in their early years of primary education.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys taking on responsibility, leading learning, and helping children develop key foundational skills.

What we’re looking for:

• A qualified HLTA or experienced Teaching Assistant with a Level 4 (or equivalent) qualification.
• Experience working with Key Stage 1 pupils, supporting both academic and personal development.
• Confident in delivering planned lessons and leading small groups or whole-class activities.
• Strong knowledge of the KS1 curriculum and early literacy and numeracy strategies.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• A caring, patient approach with the ability to inspire and motivate young learners.
• Reliable, adaptable, and able to build positive relationships with staff and pupils alike.

About the role:

• Support teachers in delivering engaging lessons and creating a positive classroom environment.
• Lead small group and 1:1 session to boost pupil progress and confidence.
• Deliver pre-prepared lessons when required, ensuring continuity of learning.
• Assist with planning, assessment, and classroom organisation.
• Encourage pupils’ curiosity, independence, and love of learning in the early stages of their education.
• Work collaboratively with class teachers and school leaders to help every child reach their potential.
