Graduate Cover Supervisor - Rochdale

Are you a recent graduate looking for experience of working within a secondary education setting?

Teaching Personnel are currently looking to register a recent graduate as a Cover Supervisor to support planned and un-planned absences at our number of partner schools across Rochdale. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals considering a teaching career in the future, to gain valuable classroom experience.

  • Graduate Cover Supervisor role with an immediate start available
  • Opportunity for paid classroom experience for those considering undertaking a PGCE or alternative Teacher Training course in the future
  • Supporting a number of secondary schools across Rochdale
  • Earn up to £1200 per month

The ideal candidate should be a confident, motivated and professional individual and ideally will have experience working with a range of learners. As a Cover Supervisor, you will be expected to deliver pre-planned work which has been left by the class teacher in their absence, as well as being able to deal with any immediate questions/issues that may arise in the classroom. Excellent behaviour management skills are highly desirable in this role, whilst also following important school procedures and policies. Candidates with a background in youth work and sports coaching will have many transferable skills.

*This position is ideal for any Graduate wishing to pursue a career in teaching in the future, experience is desired but not essential to be considered for this position.*

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Providing classroom management of students in the absence of a teaching member of staff
  • To liaise with appropriate Heads of Department on work to be set for classes and on any behavioural matters
  • To help prepare, monitor and maintain a safe and secure learning environment in line with the teachers' lesson plans
  • Manage the behaviour of pupils whilst they are completing work to ensure a constructive environment
  • Deal with any immediate problems according to the school's policies and procedures.
  • Collect completed work after the lesson and pass to the appropriate member of staff
  • Report, as appropriate using the school's agreed referral procedures, on the behaviour of pupils during the class and on any problems arising
  • Registering attendance in accordance with school policy
