Functional Skills Tutor – Newark, Nottinghamshire

Supporting Learners in English and Maths (Entry Level to Level 2)

Do you have experience delivering Functional Skills in English and Maths?

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a dedicated Functional Skills Tutor to work on a 1:1 basis with vulnerable or disengaged students across Newark, Nottinghamshire. These sessions are designed to help young people build confidence, achieve qualifications, and progress in education or employment.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity that could become long-term and full-time for the right candidate.


Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver 1:1 or small group Functional Skills sessions in English and Maths

  • Plan and adapt lessons to suit individual learner needs (Entry Level – Level 2)

  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to support learning and development

  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and focused learning environment

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience delivering Functional Skills English and/or Maths (Entry Level to L2)

  • Teaching qualification (e.g. QTS, QTLS, or relevant FE/Adult Learning certs)

  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills

  • A passion for supporting learners who may face barriers to mainstream education

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
