Job description

Teaching Personnel is looking to recruit a dedicated and experienced Functional Skills Teacher to deliver high-quality teaching in English, Maths, and/or ICT to learners across Nottinghamshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to support students in developing the essential skills they need for employment, education, and everyday life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging Functional Skills sessions tailored to individual learner needs

  • Teach entry level up to Level 2 in English, Maths, and/or ICT

  • Adapt teaching strategies to suit a range of learning styles and abilities

  • Track learner progress and provide regular, constructive feedback

  • Support students in building confidence, motivation, and transferable skills

Requirements:

  • Proven experience teaching Functional Skills in English, Maths, or ICT

  • A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed, Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training) is preferred

  • Knowledge of current Functional Skills curriculum and assessment methods

  • Strong communication and organisational skills

  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
