Job description

Attendance & Engagement Tutor – Openshaw (M11)

Reconnect. Encourage. Inspire.

At TP Tutors, we’re looking for empathetic and motivated professionals to support pupils in Openshaw (M11) who need help improving their attendance, engagement, and confidence in learning.

Many of these pupils may have experienced difficulties attending school due to social, emotional, or behavioural barriers. Your role will focus on re-establishing a positive relationship with education — helping them rebuild trust, structure, and motivation through one-to-one, face-to-face sessions.

You’ll work closely with each learner, providing a mix of academic catch-up support and mentoring, ensuring sessions are engaging, consistent, and centred around their personal goals. Lessons are delivered in safe, community-based settings such as libraries or at the pupil’s home.

We’re looking for caring, reliable individuals with experience in education, youth work, or mentoring. You’ll be confident working independently, skilled at building rapport, and able to adapt your approach to suit different learners’ needs. An Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one) is required.

In return, TP Tutors offers:

  • Competitive pay between £25–£30 per hour

  • Flexible weekday hours during the school day

  • Weekly PAYE pay (no umbrella deductions)

  • Support and guidance from a dedicated consultant

  • Ongoing CPD opportunities to strengthen your skills

If you’re passionate about helping young people in Openshaw (M11) re-engage with education and rediscover their potential, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today and become part of the TP Tutors team.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
