The Opportunity
Here at Teaching Personnel we have sector specialist recruiters working with a number of client schools who support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. Students can have a range of needs such as depression, anxiety or OCD or learning disabilities such as Autism and ADHD, all of which make it difficult for them to settle in a mainstream school environment.
These schools are specifically adapted to meet these students' needs, by creating a secure environment which promotes personal and emotional development as well as education.
In these schools, challenges are expected in terms of managing behaviour which is where you come in.
Your role
Your role is to work with the students throughout their school day, in class supporting a range of core and vocational subjects. Whilst supporting their learning they will additionally need mentoring, advising and counselling on their behaviour and emotional well-being. You will need to be an empathetic and trustworthy source of support whilst always remaining professional and keeping safeguarding as priority at all times.
Those studying psychology or counselling work well within these roles due to recognising where behaviours stem from and how best to manage or replace them with positive behaviours.
Ideally you will have training in de-escalation however relevant courses can be provided through Teaching Personnel's CPD academy.
This opportunity is flexible as we are able to provide full time or part time work on a temporary basis, with access to a number of Social, Emotional and Mental Health schools across Bristol.
If you’re interested, send over your CV and one of our consultants will give you a call!
Please be aware that if application is successful, strict vetting procedures must be met before you have access to school roles.
If you are interested in this role and would like to be considered, please apply via the link.
We also have a range of roles that may interest you, working in local primary schools around Bristol, Bath, North East Somerset and South Gloucestershire. Teaching Personnel have placed many Teacher and Teaching Assistants into temporary-to-permanent opportunities as well as receiving many supply requests if you are seeking more flexible work opportunities.
Please feel free to send across your CV to myself via email –
hope.joy-smith@teachingpersonnel.com or call 0117 92000 40 and speak to the our specialist recruitment consultants in our Primary, Secondary & SEN teams.
Alternatively, if you would like one of our specialists to call then please visit our website, where there is an opportunity to register your details.
We look forward to hearing from you.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
