Care Assistant for SEN school South Croydon part time

Are you looking for work as a care asistant?

Are you able to use hoist equipment?

Would you like to work with special needs school students who have profound and multiple learning disabilities?

A large and Ofsted rated 'outstanding' SEN school in South Croydon have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive teaching assistant to support wheelchair users on a day to day supply basis.

You will be working across different classes in the school as a 'floating TA', providing cover for absent colleagues as and when necessary. This is a rare role - you will enjoy getting to know the different students and staff, and no two days will be the same!

Specification:

  • Between 2-5 days a week care assistant/teaching assistant role
  • You need full right to work in the UK
  • You must have a child workforce DBS on the update service, or be willing to complete a new one asap
  • You must be able provide personal care (toileting and changing)
  • Experience using hoist equipment to move students in and out of wheelchairs (moving and handling or manual handling training) is required
  • Have a positive attitude and be willing to get stuck into the role straight away
  • Be able to work collaboratively with other teaching assistants and the class teacher

It is well equipped including spacious classrooms, bespoke rooms for practical subjects including cooking and technology, a large wheelchair friendly outdoor area where the students can take part in gardening, hydrotherapy pool, light and dark sensory rooms and a big hall where students put on shows for parents/carers and the public.
