Job description

Learning Support Assistant position in Southampton!

Teaching Personnel are currently working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Southampton to recruit a full-time Learning Support Assistant to join their team after the Easter break.

This role will be based within Key Stage 1 and offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced and proactive individual to play a vital role in supporting pupils’ learning and development. You will work closely alongside the class teacher to help deliver engaging lessons, provide targeted support to pupils, and contribute to a positive and structured classroom environment.

The successful candidate will be confident in supporting a range of learning needs and able to use their own initiative to adapt to the demands of a busy classroom. This is a full-time position, ideal for someone who is passionate about making a difference and is looking to secure a longer-term role within a supportive school setting.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the class teacher in delivering lessons across the curriculum

  • Working with small groups and individual pupils to reinforce learning

  • Promoting positive behaviour and engagement in the classroom

  • Assisting with classroom organisation and preparation of resources

  • Providing pastoral support where required

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have previous experience working within a primary school, ideally Key Stage 1

  • Be proactive, adaptable and confident using their own initiative

  • Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Have a patient, nurturing approach to supporting young learners

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
