Job description

A specialist school in the Hastings area are seeking a Behaviour Support Worker to join their team. This is a temporary role for one term, with an opportunity to become a permanent member of staff. The school is a 7-17 provision catering for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs and challenging behaviour.

The school is situated across two sites in Hastings and caters for students with social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH). It caters for students across both primary and secondary phases. Through their engaging purposeful curriculum the skilled staff will support students to access the skills, confidence and resilience to achieve their potential. The aim of the school is that their students are engaged and challenged to achieve their goals and make valuable contributions to their communities.

The school was graded as ‘Outstanding’ in its latest OFTSED report.

Proud of its inclusive practice where every child’s needs are met, the school are seeking a Behaviour Support Worker who is able to support pupils with SEMH needs. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues to implement individual and bespoke learning plans, and supporting pupils to regulate their emotions, de-escalating those at risk of reaching crisis and developing independent living skills.

You will be required to support a broad and balanced curriculum, highly differentiated to incorporate the needs of pupils.  You must be resilient, able to effectively manage pupil behavior and be responsive to the individual needs of pupils.

This is a full time role, on a temporary basis for 2 terms; although there may be an opportunity to apply for a permanent position.
