Behaviour Support Assistant

We are pleased to be recruiting for a Behaviour Support Worker in a Salford PRU for pupils aged 11-14.

Pupils from this school usually have a diagnosis of Social, Emotional or Mental Health needs. Most have had a disrupted school life and fall below the expected learning levels for children of their age nationally so the school is actively seeking a Behaviour Support to assist and nurture these pupils. To support you during your time at the school is the schools’ excellent team of mentors, a family liaison coordinator, a senior youth worker, form tutors and TA’s.

The ideal candidate for this role would be someone with

• A determined and caring personality

• A commitment to helping vulnerable young people

• The ability to stay calm in difficult situations.

Your role would be to provide a calm and caring presence in the classroom for these young people. You would assist in their day-to-day routine and teach them the value of effective, calm and controlled communication. You will support them through their challenges and help deescalate any potential behaviour through understanding and patience. This provision is based in Salford and is easily accessible by car, bus and tram In addition, you will need to complete all necessary vetting checks including proof of identity, a DBS on the Update Service and producing two recent references.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
