Teaching Personnel are currently representing a school in South Sheffield, who are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant for a September post. Ideally we are looking for someone with full time availability, due to the nature of the support needed.

We are looking for someone who has experience supporting children with SEMH, ASC, BESD, ADHD and PDA. The ideal candidate will be Team Teach trained (or willing to undergo training) and have experience delivering Nurture interventions. There are many children who find starting a school in September a challenge - with new teachers and timetables. Many children can be unsettled and express challenging behaviour - we are looking for someone with experience managing children on a 121 or small group basis for a September start. You will be expected to work with children who are finding transition challenging and who need additional support in school. You will need to act as a role model and mentor to children who are finding the school environment a challenge, this will include delivering structured activities and learning programmes to support pupils in building relationships and will need to take into account pupil learning styles and positive behaviour management. As a 'behaviour buddy' you will need to challenge and motivate children in your care, to reinforce self-esteem and encourage them to take part in whole class activities in a positive manner.

Our Ideal Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistant will have:

  • Minimum of NVQ L2 or equivalent
  • Good Literacy, Numeracy and communication skills (A - C, GCSE Levels)
  • Recent experience in a school/PRU/Youth Work setting
  • Team Teach/MAPA qualification
  • Good understanding of child development and play led learning
  • Ability to create an inclusive environment
  • Ability to use own initiative and work independently and as part of a team

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
