SEMH Learning Support Assistant (LSA) - Primary and Secondary
Teaching Personnel is proud to partner with an outstanding SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school located in Horsham, West Sussex. Our school provides a supportive and nurturing environment for boys with SEMH needs, offering state-of-the-art facilities and a comprehensive range of educational and therapeutic interventions. We are dedicated to helping our students achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistants to join our team, both in our primary and secondary departments. As an SEMH LSA, you will play a crucial role in supporting the academic, emotional, and social development of our students. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
- Assisting the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging and differentiated lessons.
- Implementing behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
- Building positive relationships with students and promoting their self-esteem and confidence.
- Supporting students in accessing the curriculum and developing key skills.
- Collaborating with colleagues, therapists, and external agencies to create personalized support plans.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach towards supporting challenging behaviours.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Relevant qualifications or training in education, psychology, or a related field.
- DBS clearance (we can assist with the application process if necessary).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
