A Pupil Referral Unit in Middlesbrough require confident cover supervisors to work on a flexible basis within their secondary classrooms from September. This role will involve managing various classes throughout the school day, ensuring students are engaging with work set by their teacher and focusing on behaviour management with the support of a teaching assistant.
Your main role is classroom management and direction as well as leaving brief reports for the teacher to return to. Class sizes will be no larger than 12 at a time due to the nature of the provision. Pupils in this unit are unable to be in a maintream classroom for a variety of reasons including anxiety, ADHD, Autism and challenging behaviour so the successful candidate must be responsive to this and must have experience working with young people, experience with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties) is desirable.
This is a flexible opportunity however you must be available between 2-5 days per week and will be able to respond to morning calls, as whilst there is oportunity for pre booked work this role will involve covering for last minute sicknesses in school. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
