TP 30 Years - Danielle
As Teaching Personnel marks 30 years, Danielle shares her experience of building a career with the company over the past 11 years.
She's completed an apprenticeship, managed a branch and worked with lots of teams along the way.
How long have you been with Teaching Personnel and where are you based? What first brought you to the company?
I have been with the company 10 years, 11 years come September 2026. I’m based in Newcastle in our Tyne Tees office. I came to the company as I graduated from University with a Childhood Studies degree, I was looking for a role within the education sector that wasn’t directly teaching as well as utilising my skills from my experience in customer service and retail, Teaching Personnel ticked all of the boxes.
Tell us about your role. How has it evolved over time, and what do you love most about it?
I started with the company as a trainee recruitment consultants working with primary schools and after around 2.5 years moved over to the SEND team to manage the branch. I am now a Senior Branch Manager working across both our SEND and Primary Branches in the Tyne Tees region. The people and teams I get to work with are what I love most about the role.
What has been a highlight of working here?
I gained a distinction when completing my apprenticeship in Leadership and Management, this was a proud moment as it was a challenge completing the academic element alongside working full time.
What has surprised you most in your time here?
There are plenty of surprises in the day-to-day role within education recruitment, the biggest surprise is how fast the time has gone, starting at TP fresh out of university and answering these questions almost 11 years later, I’m not sure where the time has gone! It’s such a busy role with plenty of plates to spin, as well as working in line with the school terms, each academic year seems to go quicker than the last.
How has the company invested in your development? How do use these skills today?
I have gained my L3 in Leadership and Management whilst at Teaching Personnel as the company invested in the opportunity for me to carry out an apprenticeship. This was a really good opportunity to dive back into my studies and challenge myself academically. I put the skills into use daily within my role, particularly with my understanding on team dynamics and coaching.
What would you tell someone considering joining or working with Teaching Personnel?
Teaching Personnel invest in their staff and there is a real opportunity for a career here. You will also get to network and meet people from a range of backgrounds and experiences which is a bonus to the role if you enjoy communicating and networking.
As Teaching Personnel celebrates 30 years, what are you most excited to see in the company’s future?
I’m really excited to see how TP continues to evolve and navigate the opportunities within the education sector. The education sector is constantly changing and with that comes a huge opportunity for us to have an even bigger impact. I’m looking forward to seeing us continue to grow, working with more educators, schools, and Multi-Academy Trusts, whilst building meaningful partnerships along the way. As a relatively new Mam to my twin girls (who have just turned 2), it feels even more important to me that we play a part in shaping the future of education, because the decisions we make today will directly impact the experiences and opportunities the next generation will have.
