SEN KS3 Teacher & Horticulture Lead – Part-Time (2.5–3 Days per Week)

Are you an experienced and compassionate SEN Teacher with a passion for outdoor learning? Do you want to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people while helping them develop confidence, resilience, and essential life skills?

A specialist secondary setting for students aged 11–16 is seeking a dedicated SEN KS3 Teacher & Horticulture Lead to join its team on a part-time, permanent basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with pupils who have a range of additional needs, including SEMH, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, and anxiety-related challenges, within a supportive and nurturing environment.

The school is committed to preparing students for life beyond education, placing a strong emphasis on independence, employability, and personal development. Outdoor learning plays an important role in the curriculum, making this an ideal opportunity for a teacher who enjoys delivering practical, hands-on learning experiences.

As part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of each learner. You will create a positive and inclusive classroom environment, monitor student progress, contribute to Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) reviews, and work closely with families and colleagues to support every student's development and wellbeing.

Alongside your classroom responsibilities, you will lead horticulture and outdoor learning activities, encouraging students to build practical skills, confidence, teamwork, and a love of learning beyond the traditional classroom.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
  • A passion for inclusive education and supporting students with a range of additional needs.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet individual learning needs.

Desirable experience includes:

  • A postgraduate qualification in Special Educational Needs.
  • Experience delivering Forest School, horticulture, or other outdoor education programmes.
  • Knowledge of supporting students with SEMH, ASC, ADHD, and associated learning needs.

In return, you'll join a welcoming and supportive team that values collaboration, staff wellbeing, and ongoing professional development. This is an excellent opportunity to make a lasting impact while developing your career within a specialist educational setting.

If you're passionate about helping young people achieve their potential through engaging, personalised learning and outdoor education, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today with your updated CV, and a member of our team will be in touch to discuss this exciting opportunity.
