Assistant

Teaching Personnel are working with a wonderful alternative provision supporting children aged 16+ with their emotional well being and development of their educational and vocational skills. The provision incorporate animals to assist and promote learning and development.

The provision are looking for an assistant to work every Thursday from 09:30-15:30 working on 1:1 support for students.

Students who are supported within the provision have a variety of Special Educational Needs and backgrounds including Social, Emotional and Mental Health, Autism and looked after children. Some students also present challenging behaviour.

Day to day the students timetables include Functional Skills, Maths, English and Animal Care qualifications. The activities are hands on and outdoors with the incorporation of animals. The animals incorporated include rats, horses, a gecko, rabbits, a snake and mice. The provision also utilise special interests for learning especially for ASC.

The ideal candidate would have;

• An understanding of ASC
• Childcare qualifications are useful but not essential - it's about personality
• A love of animals
• EAQ - equine assisted qualifications
• The ability to promote development of self confidence and personal self awareness
• The ability to effectively manage challenging behaviour
• The ability to inspire
• An empathetic nature
• A desire to support and assist the development of student learning
