SEN Teaching Assistant, Autism – Catholic Primary School, Denton, Tameside, M34.

  • SEN Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with autism in Key Stage 2.
  • ASC specialist work with the potential of moving up through the school with the child.
  • Supportive and inclusive Catholic Primary School in Denton, Tameside.

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a “Good” Catholic Primary school in the Denton area of Tameside, M34. This inclusive and supportive catholic primary school are currently recruiting for a teaching assistant to take up a long term position supporting autism in key stage 2 from February half term. Due to an influx of children in key stage 2, this Denton primary school need additional support with a couple of autistic children. The successful applicant for this role will start after the February half term.

This is an average sized Primary School in Denton, Tameside catering for children aged (4-11) with a great staff team, welcoming opportunities within their classrooms and several opportunities for CPD. You would become part of a school where pupils’ achievement is good. Pupils who are disabled or have special educational needs receive effective support and make good progress. (OFSTED)

The Position:

• Supporting Autism (ASC) in Key Stage 2.

• Recognising trigger points and crisis points for children.

• Supporting with communication using PECS

• Using visual timetables such as “Now and Next”

The Candidate Experience:

• Psychology Graduate – understanding of communication issues and barriers

• Social Workers and Youth Workers

• SEN Teaching Assistants with Autism or similar experience

• Respite Carers
