ALN Support Assistant 

Full Time

Cardiff

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Additional Learning Needs (ALN) Support Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a child with additional needs in a Primary School in Cardiff. You will work closely with the child to create a positive, nurturing learning environment and ensure they receive the guidance they need to thrive both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support for a child with ALN, ensuring their individual educational and emotional needs are met.
  • Assist with classroom activities and help the child engage with the curriculum.
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and other staff to develop and implement personalised learning strategies.
  • Encourage independence, self-confidence, and positive behaviour in the child.
  • Monitor and record the child’s progress, offering feedback to teachers and parents/carers.
  • Support the child during break times and extra-curricular activities as required.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or a desire to get stuck in and hit the ground running.
  • A patient, empathetic approach with excellent communication skills.
  • The ability to build strong relationships with children, staff, and families.
  • A positive attitude and commitment to promoting inclusion and equal opportunities for all pupils.
  • Understanding of ALN and strategies to support children with a range of needs (training will be provided).

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a school or childcare setting.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
