Location: Darwen, Lancashire
Job Type: Ad Hoc / Flexible Hours
Pay: £83–£95 per day (dependent on experience)

Are you a passionate and adaptable Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We’re currently recruiting for enthusiastic and reliable SEN Teaching Assistants to join a welcoming SEN school in Darwen on an ad hoc basis through our agency.

Role Overview:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll provide classroom and one-to-one support to pupils with a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, communication difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health challenges. You’ll work closely with the class teacher and wider support team to create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with diverse SEN needs.

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering lessons and interventions.

  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation.

  • Help pupils develop independence, confidence, and social skills.

  • Maintain a nurturing and safe classroom environment.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in an SEN or mainstream school setting (essential).

  • Understanding of autism, ADHD, SEMH, or other additional needs.

  • A calm, patient, and proactive approach to supporting children.

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to apply).

  • Flexibility and availability for ad hoc cover at short notice.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
