Social, Emotional and Mental Health Assistant
Location: Secondary Provision, Darwen
Hours: Full-time, 8:00am – 4:00pm, Monday to Friday
Contract: Temporary
Pay Rate: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour

We are currently recruiting for a passionate and resilient Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Assistant to join a supportive secondary provision in Darwen. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of young people with additional social, emotional, or mental health needs.

The role will involve:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs.

  • Building strong, supportive relationships to help students engage positively in school life.

  • Supporting the implementation of individual learning and behaviour plans.

  • Promoting emotional wellbeing and positive attitudes to learning.

  • Working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external agencies.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with young people with SEMH or additional needs (school experience desirable).

  • Demonstrate empathy, patience, and strong communication skills.

  • Be confident, adaptable, and able to remain calm in challenging situations.

  • Be committed to helping students reach their full potential.
