Learning Support Assistant

Teaching Personnel are working in Partnership with an Alternative Provision in Darwen who are seeking a 1:1 Behaviour Support to provide additional support for their pupils.

The school caters for pupils aged 11 – 16 with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties. The school provides these pupils who have previously had a negative experience within education have a second chance at gaining a gaining qualification to move onto further study or employment. Many of the pupils who attend this school have large gaps in their learning and often display challenging behaviours. The school, therefore, accommodates to their pupils needs and have created an environment which children feel safe and secure. The school offers an incredibly varied curriculum including outdoor education, motor vehicles, engineering as well as academic subjects such as maths and English.

As a 1:1 Behaviour Support Assistant, you will be responsible for:

-     Participate in the planning and evaluation of learning activities.

-     Support the teacher in monitoring, assessing, recording, and reporting pupils’ progress according to the school’s policies in order to monitor and foster pupils’ progress in all areas of learning.

-     Support positive behaviour and concentration levels of the children and adapt own behaviour and responses to any change or escalations in behaviour of the children.

-     Promote spiritual, moral, social, and cultural (SMSC) development and British values within the PSHE policy across the whole school.

-     Promote pupils’ cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical development and spiritual well-being through a whole Day Curriculum.

The school are seeking someone who is nurturing, energetic and someone who is wanting to make a difference to pupils who need it. Previous experience working within specialist provision is preferred but not essential.

This role is a full-time role (8:30am – 4:00pm Monday to Friday).

The role is due to start in September 2023, however, the school are happy to accommodate transtion days. 

The pay for this role is £11.85 - £12.53 per hour depending on experience.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
