Part time tuition support required for year 9 boy with challenging behaviour - English and maths - immediate start

Would you be able to work on low level functional skills in English and maths with a year 9 boy who is out of education and struggles with behavioural difficulties?

The details of the role:

  • You will act as a tutor for the boy, working 1:1 with him at Woolwich Library
  • You would see him 5 times a week (Monday - Friday) for one hour per day - the exact time is flexible and dependent on your availability
  • You would be required to find and prepare activities for him - games and interactive activities would be the best as he has a short attention span and struggles to focus on a lot of written work
  • You would also be required to type up a short report at the end of each week as evidence of what you have been doing with him

The pay rate for this kind of tutoring is £20 - £25 per hour, dependent on your experience. Further tutoring opportunities may come available if you would be interested in taking on some more hours per day or per week.

You are NOT necessarily required to be a fully qualified teacher, however you need to be confident in finding, delivering and marking work as a tutor.

The boy has challenging behaviour, and has been permanently excluded from his previous school. He got very distracted by other students at his school but engaged well with adults who managed to build up a relationship with him when doing 1:1 support. This is why we are confident that a tutor situation will be more successful than a school situation.
