Youth Workers/Behaviour Support Workers - Hertfordshire

Teaching Personnel are looking for Youth Workers/Behaviour Support Workers to work in a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Hertfordshire.

The school are looking for a confident and engaging individuals to work with secondary age students. Many of the children are vulnerable to the dangers of gangs, drugs, crime and exploitation and the school is very keen for individuals who can guide there young people through their life challenges and help them make the right choices.

The school places a strong emphasis on the individual, all of their pupils have a unique set of circumstances and requirements. Your job as a Teaching Assistant in this school is to optimise their potential. Every pupil will have an area of strength - the staff work hard to identify that strength and then build upon it, which in turn improves self-esteem and confidence.

A strong aspect of this setting is the pastoral care. Many of their pupils have difficulties in their lives and can be very sensitive about their circumstances. The staff deal with these situations professionally and compassionately and try to ensure that there is a positive outcome at all times.

Experience working with challenging behaviour is essential.

Experience in the below area desirable but not essential:

  • Team Teach or other restraint training
  • Youth Work
  • Sports Background
  • Experience talking to young people about dangers of gang culture, drugs, sex, and exploitation.
