Youth Worker Teaching Assistant - PRU - Walthamstow

£65- £75 daily rate - PAYE, no hidden fees

A behaviour provision in Walthamstow are looking for an experienced behaviour teaching assistant to work in KS3 class supporting vulnerable pupils with complex challenging behavioural needs; they are disengaged in their education and can display verbal and physical aggressive behaviours. This post will be for an immediate start with the prospects for professional development as school are part of a large multi site academy trust. For the successful candidate there is the potential to secure a permanent contract.

They are looking for at least 2 of the following qualities:

• Previous experience working in a PRU, alternative provision or working with pupils who have been excluded from school
• Experienced Youth or Community Support Worker
• Support workers from mental health facilities or high risk secure units working with challenging adults
• Sports coaches looking to transfer skills in supporting vulnerable young pupils' education
• Confident , resilient , positive personality

The post is to start immediately for the successful candidate and you will be required to commit to working during term time until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of becoming a permanent member of staff. The school caters for pupils that are of a challenging nature so it is essential to have a good understanding to work with students that have emotional, behavioural needs, be of a confident personality. You will work closely with your colleagues to work cohesively to support challenging students in KS3 adopting a nurturing approach to encourage learners to positively manage their emotions , overcome their barriers to learning, as well as improve their social and communication skills to further their education prospects and acheive their full potential.
