Are you a Youth Worker who is looking to transition your skills and experience into a school setting?
Are you confident working with pupils aged 5 - 11 with challenging social, emotional and mental health needs?
A KS2 provision in South Manchester require a KS2 Teaching Assistant to cover a maternity leave starting in October 2017. The ideal Teaching Assistant will come from a Youth Work background and be comfortable
This school caters for pupils who have been excluded from their mainstream setting due to a social, emotional or mental health need.
The class is made up of between 8-11 pupils with some pupils are showing signs of undiagnosed speech and language needs and specific learning difficulties. The current Teacher has put into place a solid routine for the pupils to adhere to which they have taken to very well.
This class has two very strong teaching assistants that are confident using team - teach as a method of both verbal and physical de-escalation. The ideal Teaching Assistant will also be team - teach trained, Teaching Personnel run courses every half term and therefore can train the Teaching Assistant if needed.
Challenging and confrontational behaviours are common therefore the school require a strong willed youth worker who can provide a flexible and differentiated approach to supporting te pupils social and emotional development. As the position is to start soon, ideally the Youth Work Teaching Assistant will have a DBS on the update service.
