Teaching Personnel is recruiting on behalf of a friendly and supportive primary school in Firswood for a dedicated Year 1 Teaching Assistant to join their team from October.

This rewarding opportunity allows you to make a meaningful impact during a key stage of children's development. Working closely alongside the class teacher, you'll support pupils in building strong foundations in learning, developing confidence, and achieving their full potential within a positive and engaging classroom environment.

The Role

As a Year 1 Teaching Assistant, you will provide valuable support to pupils throughout the school day, helping to create an inclusive and nurturing learning experience.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting Year 1 pupils in whole-class activities, small group interventions, and on a 1:1 basis
• Assisting with phonics, literacy, numeracy, and other curriculum-based learning activities
• Encouraging confidence, independence, and positive learning behaviours
• Providing additional support for children with SEND and EAL needs
• Promoting positive behaviour and pupil engagement across the classroom
• Helping to prepare learning resources and maintain an organised learning environment
• Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and parents to support pupil progress

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic and caring individual who is passionate about supporting young children's learning and development.

The ideal candidate will:

• Have previous experience supporting children in a primary school setting
• Be confident working with Key Stage 1 pupils, ideally within Year 1
• Demonstrate patience, adaptability, and a nurturing approach
• Be reliable, proactive, and able to use their initiative
• Have strong communication and teamwork skills
• Hold a Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential)
