Teaching Personnel are looking for a tutor to support an extremely disengaged pupil  based in the NG3 area of Nottingham, who will be attending an alternative provision for 3 days per week in September, and will require tuition on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the home or local library, depending on the situation with COVID 19 at the time.


The student will be entering Year 9 in September and presents with SEMH. He has had tutoring recently and throughout lockdown, and has been relatively disengaged. Therefore we are looking for someone resilient and confident to try and engage vulnerable young people. Ideally we are looking for 6 hours on Tuesdays and 6 hours on Thursdays, therefore it would be preferential if we can offer 1 tutor in the mornings and another in the afternoons.


The ideal candidate for this role will be:

  • Experienced tutor who can plan and deliver creative and engaging lessons alongside his Alternative Provision (with a focus on Core subjects)
  • Someone experienced with SEN in particular with Mental Health and anxiety
  • Confident to manage challenging behaviour where required
  • Able to engage a very disaffected pupil and try to encourage him  to participate in his education both with his tutors and with his new Alternative Provision
  • Able to work professionally with his foster carer
  • Competent at providing detailed, extensive feedback outlining his strengths and areas for development

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
