Teaching Assistant with English specialism vacancy

- Do you have experience within a secondary school working as a Teaching Assistant?

- Do you have a specialism within English, i.e. Degree or tutoring experience?

- Are you available full-time from Easter?

If so, I am working on behalf of a large mainstream secondary school (11-16) within the Preston area who are looking to recruit an experienced Teaching Assistant with a specialism in English to support targeted students. The role is from Monday 9th April and is full-time until summer, at least.

This is a larger than average school in a welcoming area of Preston with close links to the M55 and M6. Students at the school may present challenging behaviour, although your role won't involve full classroom teaching, it is something to be aware of as the school would like an experienced Teaching Assistant with good behaviour management skills.

Roles & Responsibilities:

- Teaching Assistant providing English support within school

- Likely to be attached to the English dept.

- Leading Literacy groups with a handful of students

- 1:1 English intervention support for targeted students

- Planning and leading some activities following the English curriculum

With the position due to start from Monday 9th April, the school will be looking to meet with candidates interested ASAP. To be suitable for this role you must have a subject specialism in English and experience working within a secondary school. If the school are interested in meeting with you, they will expect you in school for half a day on a voluntary basis to ascertain your suitability for the role.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
