Teaching Assistant- Transition support- Manchester

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a popular secondary school in East Manchester to source the support of a Teaching Assistant to support with transitions across the school. This transition Teaching Assistant role is a fantastic opportunity to make a significant difference to the nurture department of the school. This Teaching Assistant position will begin from September 2018 and will be for one term initially:

  • Transition support across all year groups
  • Focusing on improving the literacy and numeracy of identified pupils
  • Possibility of a fixed-term contract after the initial supply period
  • School located on the outskirts of Manchester city centre

About the role-

Due to the strategic focus of the Senior Leadership team to continue to provide pupils with the best possible outcomes, a fantastic and progressive opportunity has developed for a Teaching Assistant to join the nurture department in the new academic year. This position is ideally suited to an English or Maths graduate or someone who has previous experience supporting with literacy and numeracy in an educational capacity.

Working under the Heads of Year and the Heads of English and Maths, the incoming Teaching Assistant will be tasked with supporting the transition and raising the attainment of identified pupils. You will be expected to work across all year groups but there will be a particular focus on working with Year 7s to support them with their transition from Primary to Secondary education.

This position will be for one term initially so that suitability for the role can be ascertained. However, there is the possibility of a fixed-term contract being available after the initial supply period.

About the school-

Our partner school is slightly smaller in comparison to those in the surrounding areas with it currently catering for just under 900 pupils. The numbers of pupils eligible for pupil premium and those who speak English as an Additional Language are slightly higher than the national average. It is located on the outskirts of Manchester town centre offering excellent accessibility to East Manchester, Tameside and areas of Stockport via the M60 motorway. There are also direct public transport links (both buses & trains) to the school from Manchester city centre.
