Teaching Assistant / Support Worker

An Outstanding Primary Special Needs School in Enfield are currently seeking an experienced teaching assistant to support KS1 students with autism. The school are looking for a passionate individual who is willing to support students with a statement of special educational needs and is looking to develop a career in education.

There are 7 pupils in the class who all have a statement of special educational needs such as Autism, Social Emotional Mental Health needs and Hypermobility. Students attending this class are challenging in their behaviour and do often require additional 1:1 support. Each student has a tailored education health care plan that is followed and reported on a daily basis; there is currently 1 class teacher and 2 additional support staff in the classroom.

Job attributes:

  • Degree in Psychology/Sociology/PE/Drama
  • Voluntary work or placement supporting children or young people in a school/youth setting
  • Experience with autism and challenging behaviour
  • Provided 1:1 support and managed small groups of 3
  • Relevant training - Safeguarding, Team Teach, Autism Awareness
