Teaching Assistant: Support for Autistic Children

Teaching Personnel are pleased to present a great opportunity for a teaching assistant with SEN experience to work at a partner primary school in Camden Town. The school are looking to bring in additional support for a child joining their Reception class in September with severe autism and they are particularly interested in candidates with a background in occupational therapy or speech and language. The school is very easy to get to, located just a five minute walk from Camden Town station; with its easy connection to Overground and Northern lines.

The school offers a challenging, high quality and creative approach to development, learning and achievement. They aim to give students not just a strong academic foundation but also life skills such as negotiation, empathy and flexibility and to let their students enjoy their time at school alongside this!

The supportive leadership work hard to draw out the best of all staff to benefit pupil's achievements. The children in the school have a thirst for learning and are keen to not miss out on the exciting range of services available to them. Relationships are extremely positive between all adults and pupils and you will be joining an incredibly supportive team of staff. The school and it's community recently moved into a new stunning state of the art build! They are a growing 1.5 form entry school, so there's plenty of space to use for creative, outdoor and sporting activities!

  • Experience working with children with ASC
  • Experience with Makaton and PECS
  • A background in occupational therapy or speech and language support
  • A desire to 'achieve more' and really engage with the 'Outstanding' nature of the school
  • Experience of working with Key Stage 1 and 2 children

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
