1:1 Learning Support Assistant
Location: Farnborough, Hampshire
Setting: Specialist SEMH & SEN Provision (Ages 4–16)
Pay: £14.25 per hour
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist school in Farnborough that supports pupils aged 4–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, and a range of additional learning needs.
The school provides a structured, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment, with small class sizes and high levels of staff support to ensure that each pupil receives an individualised approach to their education and personal development.
This role involves providing consistent one-to-one support for a pupil throughout the school day, enabling them to engage positively with learning, develop emotional regulation strategies, and achieve their individual educational and personal goals.
The Role
Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff, therapists, and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in supporting the pupil's academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and social development.
Key responsibilities include:

Providing dedicated one-to-one support throughout the school day

Supporting the pupil's emotional regulation and promoting positive behaviour through consistent strategies

Encouraging engagement in lessons and wider school activities
-
Building a positive, professional, and supportive relationship with the pupil

Promoting independence, communication, and social development

Assisting with transitions, breaktimes, and other aspects of the daily school routine

Working collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals to implement individual support plans

Maintaining a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
Person Specification
Applications are welcomed from candidates with experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, SEN, Autism, ADHD, or behavioural needs.
Experience gained within education is advantageous; however, we also welcome applicants from related sectors, including:

An enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service is desirable. Applicants who do not currently hold one must be willing to obtain an enhanced DBS as part of the recruitment process.
