Location: Farnborough, Hampshire
Setting: Specialist SEMH & SEN School (Ages 4–16)
Pay: £14.25 per hour

Are you looking for a role where you can make a real difference every day?

We're looking for a caring, reliable, and motivated Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist school in Farnborough that supports children and young people aged 4–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, autism, ADHD, and a range of additional learning needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with one pupil, helping them feel supported, build confidence, and get the most out of their education. You'll be part of a friendly and experienced team where relationships, consistency, and understanding are at the heart of everything they do.

The school provides a structured and supportive environment with small class sizes, excellent staff-to-pupil ratios, and a strong focus on helping every pupil succeed both academically and personally.

The Role

As a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant, you'll support one pupil throughout the school day, helping them engage with learning, manage emotions, and develop the confidence and skills they need to thrive.

Working alongside teachers and pastoral staff, you'll play an important role in creating a positive, calm, and encouraging learning environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-to-one support throughout the school day

  • Encouraging engagement with learning and classroom activities

  • Supporting emotional regulation using positive behaviour strategies

  • Building a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil

  • Helping to develop confidence, independence, and social skills

  • Supporting pupils during lessons, breaktimes, and transitions

  • Working closely with teachers and other professionals to meet the pupil's individual needs

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is patient, calm, resilient, and enjoys helping young people overcome challenges.

Previous school experience is welcome, but it's not essential. We would love to hear from people with experience in:

  • Care or support work

  • Youth work or mentoring

  • Residential childcare

  • Sports coaching

  • Mental health support

  • Early years or childcare

  • Healthcare

  • Community or voluntary work

  • Customer service or other people-focused roles where you've built positive relationships and supported others

If you're someone who communicates well, enjoys working as part of a team, and wants to have a positive impact on a young person's life, we'd encourage you to apply.

What You'll Receive

  • £14.25 per hour

  • Term-time working hours

  • Ongoing training and development

  • A welcoming and supportive staff team

  • Valuable experience within specialist education

  • Opportunities for long-term work and career development

  • A genuinely rewarding role where you can see the difference you make every day

An enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service is desirable. If you do not currently hold one, you must be willing to obtain an enhanced DBS as part of the recruitment process.
