Teaching Assistants Needed – Specialist Schools | Portsmouth

Location: Portsmouth
Pay: £14.25 per hour
Hours: Full-time preferred (part-time opportunities also available)

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistants to work within a range of specialist schools across the Portsmouth area.

We are looking for individuals who have experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and/or Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Whether your experience comes from education, care, youth work, or a similar setting, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Help create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist students with their academic, social and emotional development.
  • Work closely with teachers and other professionals to support individual learning needs.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and build strong, supportive relationships with pupils.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN and/or SEMH needs.
  • A patient, resilient and positive approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children to achieve their potential.
  • A willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check (or already have one on the Update Service).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
