Learning Support Assistant – Primary SEN Schools
Location: Portsmouth and surrounding areas
Pay: £14.25 per hour
Contract Type: Full-Time and Part-Time Opportunities Available

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting caring and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to work within Primary SEN schools across Portsmouth and the surrounding areas.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them succeed both inside and outside the classroom. You will work closely with teaching staff to provide tailored support that enables pupils to engage in learning and develop confidence, independence, and essential life skills.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, ensuring they receive the encouragement and guidance required to achieve their potential.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups

  • Assisting teachers with classroom activities and lesson delivery

  • Encouraging participation, engagement, and positive behaviour

  • Supporting pupils' social, emotional, and academic development

  • Helping to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment

  • Implementing individual support plans and strategies where required

About You

We are looking for candidates who are:

  • Passionate about working with children and young people

  • Patient, compassionate, and adaptable

  • Strong communicators with excellent interpersonal skills

  • Able to work effectively as part of a team

  • Experienced in education, childcare, care, or support work (desirable but not essential)

Safeguarding and Compliance

Applicants must hold a Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one as part of the registration process.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
