Location: Farnborough, Hampshire
Setting: Specialist SEMH & SEN Provision (Ages 4–16)
Pay: £14.25 per hour

We're recruiting a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist school in Farnborough, supporting children and young people aged 4–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism, ADHD, and a range of additional learning needs.

The school provides a nurturing, structured environment where every pupil is supported to reach their potential. With small class sizes, a high staff-to-pupil ratio, and a strong emphasis on relationships, consistency, and personalised learning, you'll have the opportunity to make a lasting impact every day.

This role focuses on providing dedicated one-to-one support for a pupil, helping them engage with learning, develop emotional regulation, and build confidence both inside and outside the classroom.

The Role

Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and the wider support team, you'll help create a positive, predictable environment where pupils feel safe, understood, and ready to learn.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing consistent one-to-one support throughout the school day

• Supporting emotional regulation using positive behaviour strategies

• Encouraging engagement with learning and classroom activities

• Helping pupils develop confidence, resilience, and independence

• Building a trusting and positive relationship with the pupil

• Supporting social interaction, communication, and personal development

• Working collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals to meet individual support plans

• Assisting during lessons, transitions, breaktimes, and enrichment activities

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is patient, resilient, and genuinely enjoys supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning.

Experience in schools is welcome, but we're also keen to hear from people with backgrounds in:

• SEN or SEMH support

• Care or support work

• Youth work or mentoring

• Residential childcare

• Mental health support

• Sports coaching

• Nursery or childcare settings

• Healthcare

• Customer-facing roles where you've built positive relationships and supported people from different backgrounds

The right person will be calm under pressure, a confident communicator, and committed to helping pupils succeed.

A Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service is preferred. If you do not currently hold one, you must be willing to obtain an enhanced DBS as part of the recruitment process.
