Job description

Do you have experience working with young people who have social and emotional difficulties? Have you ever had to support young people who can be described as displaying challenging behaviours? My client is a specialist school based in Central Manchester for young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health difficulties. They are seeking to employ two Teaching assistants who have the ability to work on a 1:1 basis with young people who have needs which prevent them from functioning academically/socially in a group or school setting. The role will involve working 1:1 with up to 3 'key' students throughout the school week. The Teaching assistant will monitor engagement and attainment and work closely with Teaching staff to identify routes to overcome the barriers to learning.

The successful Teaching Assistants for this Manchester post will help the young people access a curriculum which is focused directly at their individual needs. The main school will provide work, it is then down to the Teaching assistant to manage the young person in a way which enables them to make both education and social progress.

The ideal candidate for this Manchester post will have experience in the below areas:

  • Youth work
  • Residential support
  • Previous school based experience
  • Sports coaching
  • Theoretical- degree in youth work

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
