Teaching Assistant - Leyton

Do you have experience supporting young adults with autism and physical disabilities?

If so, this is the role for you!

A special needs school in Walthamstow central are currently seeking a teaching assistant to support students on a 1:1 basis in a specialist unit. The students within the unit are KS4 secondary students with statements of autism and physical disabilities; moving and handling training would be necessary for this role in supporting students with complex physical and personal care needs.

The school is part of a multisite academy supporting students from the ages of 2-19 years with a range of complex needs. They aim to provide the best education and care support to their students which is why previous special needs experience and a passion for supporting students with special educational needs is valued for this role.

Your role as a teaching assistant:

  • Providing 1:1 support for KS4 students within the SEN unit
  • Assist with personal care and changing needs
  • Encourage students to take part in group activities and stimulate their learning
  • Ensure that you meet the safeguarding requirements
