A secondary school on the east side of Manchester are looking for a Teaching Assistant to join their SEN department, providing in class support. This role will primarily be focussed on providing support to a year 7 class and will involve following the instruction of the classroom teacher as well as providing intervention in Numeracy (and Literacy). There will be the opportunity to work with students in small groups, specifically providing support and intervention in numeracy.
The school may also ask for you to provide 1:1 support with a student in year 7 and again there may be crossover to students in other year groups. The successful individual should be able to manage behaviour and be confident in their approach with students who aren't particularly engaged in work. The successful TA will be able to work with students getting them back on task and making learning fun and enjoyable.
Highlights of this support position:
- Provide numeracy support to year 7 students (as well as other interventions)
- Opportunity to gain a well rounded experience as a support TA assisting in class, with smaller groups and on a one to one basis
- Pay ranging between £50 - £65 depending on prior experience in a similar role
This secondary school prides itself on focussing on students' requirements and providing the best learning experience. The school is a state of the art facility with great resources and equipment at the disposable of all staff and students and they ideally require a vibrant and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant who can offer their support.
The school is putting specific emphasis on the year 7 cohort as these are the students who have 5 years to progress throughout the school so getting the support and behaviour correct now is key to the long term plan of the school.
The school is easily accessible from the city centre via the tram link as well as regular bus routes from the South of Manchester and the east of Manchester - Tameside and Droylsden.
This role will suit a successful TA, Learning Support Assistant or someone who has provided support within a secondary school previously. Please apply now if you are interested in this TA position with your latest CV.
