Teaching Assistant

I am currently looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist school in Horncastle. This school caters for students from ages 5 to 16 years with a range of needs, primarily Autism and Moderate Learning Difficulties. 

The school has fantastic facilities in order to meet all student needs with alternative methods of promoting independence. This includes an animal unit with a range of farm animals and indoor pets which helps the students work towards the aspirations as they move towards adulthood. This includes opportunities to take part in travel training, work experience and life skills.

The school uses have whole school communication approach with adults modelling Makaton signing, verbal communication, use of symbols, written and pictorial communication as well as alternative means such as PECS, PODD and iPad. Students also use visual timetables to help with their routines and reduce unnecessary heightened anxiety. 

The successful Teaching Assistant will be required to support students across a range of classes and help maintain their engagement within the classroom. At times you will also be required to manage any challenging behaviour that may arise.
