We are currently recruiting for a teaching assistant in the Penzance area. You will be required to work from 8.30am to 3.30 pm Monday to Friday during term time. The ideal candidate will be able to start after October half term.

You will be responsible for helping the class teacher with planning, preparing, and delivering learning activities to the students, this may be to a specific student or small groups. Good communication skills are highly desired as you will be helping the teacher with assessing and recording the students’ progress to help them get a better understanding of any students who may be needing any additional support and to help them highlight topics/subjects that the students are struggling with so specific work can be created to help them. You may also be required to communicate with other teachers, parents, and the SENCO. The school are looking for somebody who is creative and enjoys making learning fun and interesting to help the students stay focused on their work. You may be required to work on a 1:1 basis with students who are struggling with specific learning activities to give them some extra support and to help build their confidence. The school aims to make learning as interactive and interesting for the students as possible by using outdoor learning and making the most of opportunities to go out on educational school trips, you will be required to assist the teacher with these activities. Organisational and time management skills are very important in this role.

The ideal candidate will have 3 years’ experience working as a teaching assistant and will be aware of Child Protection, Health and Safety, Behaviour, Teaching and Learning and Equal Opportunities policies. You will also need a Child Workforce DBS which can be completed during the recruitment process.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
