Job description

I am currently recruiting on behalf of a Special Educational Needs School in Derbyshire who are looking for a Teaching Assistant to support students with Special Educational Needs. I am looking for experienced, supportive and passionate Teaching Assistants.

Students who require support have special educational needs. These needs can include Autism, Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties, Moderate Learning Difficulties, Downs Syndrome, Specific Learning Difficulties and Speech, Language and Communication needs. Students have a variety of needs and as you develop a working relationship with the children, you will be able to actively identify and implement effective support for students based on their individual needs.

A good candidate would have;

  • An empathetic and calm nature
  • The ability to identify and apply effective support mechanisms for students
  • GCSE Maths and English minimum of A-C grade
  • A Passionate personality
  • The ability to inspire others
  • Resilience
  • CACHE L3 (Desirable but not essential)
  • HLTA (Desirable but not essential)
  • Youth work experience (Desirable but not essential)
  • One year minimum of experience supporting children with special educational needs
  • Effective communication skills
